Silkroad® bamboo plywood and veneer is made from 100% bamboo strips. Bamboo is hollow in the center and utilizes the wall thickness of the stalk to manufacture plywood and veneer.

The wall at the base can be over 1-inch thick and will span over the length of the stalk. K&M's manufacturing facility mills a flat strip from the core of this wall, the boils the strips in a mixture of boric acid and lime solution. The purpose of this step is to extract the starch that attracts termites or powder post beetles. Boric acid and lime are a natural non-toxic repellent and is used to insure that our products will come to you pest free and will continue to be so throughout the duration of their product life.

The bamboo strips are then kiln dried and sanded to a smooth surface for laminating. Strips are laminated edge to edge to create a single-ply bamboo veneer or laminated again and again to create a multi-ply bamboo plywood.
